I feel a bit stupid just writing little random posts, but I also feel a bit daft when I don’t write for a while. So here’s a bit of an update.
First, if you haven’t checked out Episode 1: Gay Pride Parade and Episode 2: The Veneto, Italy and Croatia, you should go do that. They are my video versions of Roni On Location. Pieces that will be 10 minutes or under with Roni and travel and various characters and more musical events than I go to in normal life.
I am currently in Croatia. I have all sorts of stories from Italy that need to be brushed up a bit before they get posted.
I had forgotten what it was like to travel on European trains in summer. May as well had been in a hostel last night on the way from Venice to Zagreb, with all of the loud Americans.
On the train, I met an Italian guy from Ferrara that was on his way to an environmental economics conference and a Spanish actress from Barcelona that was on her way to a physical acting workshop. Also talked to some guys from Hong Kong that were dispersed to the winds, including one that is studying law in London and another that lives in Berkeley. Of course, I can’t forget the girls from Pennsylvania that were conspiring on how to stay in Italy permanently (marrying some guy named Pisco was one possible plan) and the girls from Atlanta and the guys from Austin.
All in all, a lot of people.
The plan now is to head south, to eventually see Kosovo, then Bulgaria. I don’t think I’ll be able to go to Russia by train, due to time constraints, but if I keep the trip fairly brief and without fat, it might be plausible. We shall see.
